Here at Northampton we offer a broad range of societies, from course-based groups, to those based around religious, political or ethical sensibilities. Many of our societies are based on common interests, such as the popular Videogaming Society, or the newly formed SoberSquad.
Societies are not only a great way to meet like-minded people, but they also offer the chance to develop numerous skills that will help you further develop yourself in such ways that it could be really benefitial for your future career. If you are not sure whether societies are for you check out this video with your Vice President Education, Danjie.
All societies that are on offer will be avaliable at Union Day which is being held on the 25th and 26th of September on the Pavilion field. There is also an oppertunity for you to start your own societity if you have four people willing to do so with you.
In 2014 we became the first students' union to offer free societies - an offer that has since been replicated at other institutions. The removal of membership fees has seen participation in our societies increase substantially.
Societies regularly run a number of social events, meetings and trips throughout the year – whether it’s a trip to Belgium, down to London to see a show, or a night at the Students’ Union – there’s something for everyone. Joining a society is also an exciting opportunity to learn something new, like salsa or meditation, visit somewhere you’ve never been before or further develop a passion you already have!
