What Does the Student Trustee Do?

Overseeing the Students' Union is a Board of Trustees, which is responsible for ensuring that the organisation complies with the law, with its own stated objects, and with the policies agreed by its democratic structures. 

The Trustee Board is also responsible for safeguarding the financial stability, good name, culture and ethos of the Union, and actively contributes to developing the strategic direction of the organisation.

The Board meets at least 4 times a year, with Sub-Committees meeting at regular intervals as appropriate. The Board of Trustees consists of 12 persons that includes three elected Student Trustees that join three Executive Officers, three Alumni Trustees and three Exernal Trustees. 

Job Description

There is no role description for this position, but you will be expected to attend all four meetings held across the year (which include meetings out of term time) and to attend prepared, having read the agenda and supporting reports. Most important is that you are enthusiastic about getting involved in decision-making!
